Within the major overhaul of the Pancevo Oil Refinery, there are certain delays, of two to three days, compared to the plan, but an agreement has been reached for the activities on the overhaul to be intensively supervised together with NIS over the next ten days, so that the deviations would remain minimal and so that the Refinery would start working at full capacity as soon as possible, the Government of Serbia says in an announcement.

The minister of mining and energy of Serbia, Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic, took a tour of the Pancevo Oil Refinery, and during her visit, she pointed out that over 3,000 workers were hired, including external contractors. She reminded that the value of the works on the overhaul of the refinery was close to EUR 95 million.

– Considering the scope and complexity of these works, the ministry, together with state inspectors, the management of NIS and everybody who is involved in the overhaul, is monitoring all the activities so that the job would be finished well and within the set deadline. Following the overhaul, the aim is for the production and the operations of the refinery to be even more reliable, which also entails a greater security of the supply of the local market – pointed out Djedovic Handanovic, who talked to the CEO of NIS, Kirill Tyurdenev and the management of that company about the dynamics of the overhaul activities during her visit to the refinery.

Djedovic Handanovic presented the fact that the reserves of oil and oil products were at a level of 80 days of the average daily consumption at that moment and added that, in the previous period, NIS had increased the imports in order to secure bigger reserves while the overhaul was taking place and added that, at that moment, the reserves were around 50% bigger than usual.

– This overhaul is the biggest endeavor since the refinery’s operations were relaunched following the NATO bombing – she said.

The direct of the Processing Block at NIS, Vladimir Gagic, said that the major overhaul in the Pancevo Oil Refinery was the most complex in its history.

He said that investment projects, covered by the overhaul, should enable the renewing of the resources and their more reliable operations, but also a further improvement of the processes of production and environmental protection.

Let us remind that the overhaul began slightly more than a month ago, when it was announced that it would last until April 17. As specified at the time, this entails planned overhaul and investment works on the majority of the processing facilities, which will enable the improvement of the production processes, as well as an increased reliability of the operations of the facilities in the processing complex of NIS.

All the activities, as pointed out, are being done in line with strict environmental standards and occupational health and safety rules.
