New tender for Zezelj Bridge by mid-December
Delay in the construction of Zezelj Bridge in Novi Sad is unacceptable, which is why a new tender will be issued by December 15th, it was said at Wednesday's meeting between Transportation Minister Aleksandar Antic and Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Michael Davenport.
- We must do this by December 15th in order to create necessary conditions to continue the work on this large project, which is important not only for Novi Sad and Vojvodina, but also for overall enhancement of the quality of traffic infrastructure in Serbia - Antic pointed out.
The Transportation Ministry stressed in a release that the delay in the construction of the Zezelj Bridge had resulted from a problem with the contractor.
This project is mainly financed with IPA funds totaling EUR 45.3 million, while additional EUR 19.1 million are provided from the budget of AP Vojvodina.
Implementation of the project commenced March 2011 and was set to be completed in 32 months.
At the meeting with Antic, Ambassador Davenport pointed to the significance of another project "bridging" Serbia and the European Union.
