TV Series About Jovanka Broz In Development

The news that a TV show based on the life of Jovanka Budisavljevic Broz the wife of the former president of SFR Yugoslavia Josip Broz Tito has garnered a lot of attention.

Adrenalin Production House will produce the show and Milana Vlaovic Kovacevic wrote the show script, Zagreb-based Vecernji list daily writes.

The casting process is due to start in September.

The show's executive producer Tea Korolija said that “Jovanka” will show the lead heroine's story from the human aspect.

The series will be a co-production between several countries and is therefore supposed to be filmed in Croatia and Serbia but in Russia and Egypt as well. The actors for the roles of Jovanka and Tito will be chosen after initial screen tests and the casting notices will be placed in Slovenia, Croatia and Serbia.

– We will hold auditions in all countries that were a part of the former Yugoslavia, Korolija said.

The series will start shooting in 2021. Two season with six episodes each were planned.
