The salaries of the public sector employees will be raised by 10% from January 1, 2018, whereas pensions will be raised by 5%, Novosti learns.

– This will raise the average pension of RSD 23,822 by RSD 1,141 and the salary in the public sector will go up from 4,000 to 5,000 dinars, on average, depending on the occupation – Novosti reports.

Minister of Finance Dusan Vujovic stated on Wednesday, September 27, 2017, that there had been discussions with representatives of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) about a potential one-off raise of pensions and salaries in the public sector in 2017 and that it was certain that the raise would be included in the 2018 budget. He pointed out that he expected the raises to be considerable.

Vujovic said that he didn’t want to discuss the precise percentages and the manner of distribution at the moment, as it would be “subject to further negotiations”.
