In mid-2005, “BG Sports Center Kovilovo” and “Hotel President” took active part in the tourist offer of Serbia. “Hotel President” was opened on July 1st, 2005, and it immediately received its fi rst guests. That were the contestants of the European Archery Championship and World Archery Cup. That’s how the completing of the offer of this unique sportstourist center began.

Kovilovo is settled on the north edge of Belgrade, in Banat, some twenty kilometers away from the city center. Until two years ago, it had been known as one of the suburban areas where mainly people who worked in the agricultural combine “Beograd“ lived. Private domestic entrepreneurs found their interest to invest in the construction of a modern sports-recreation-hotel complex in the surroundings of this settlement, amidst immense forests and hunting grounds, near canal and the Danube river. This facility is slowly but certainly making the environment of Kovilovo a better place to live in.

Structure and Philosophy of Complex
Even a short visit to this complex seriously calls one’s attention to exceptional city planning concept. During the planning of contents and programs of the complex, the needs of few different target groups, selected by the nature and purpose of use, were taken in consideration. The result of that research pointed to the directions of development in a quality way, on the basis of which the action plan was made for achievement of set goals. “BG Sports Center Kovilovo” defi ned the following target groups: sports preparation, seminar – congress tourism, business visits, hunting tourism, family and company picnics and outdoor hanging out.

The group visits are also expected and they will be easier to handle after the construction and opening of fun and aqua park with an attractive open-air restaurant.
“BG Sports Center Kovilovo” encompasses “Hotel President”, sports hall with fi elds for basketball, volleyball, handball and mini football, with the top-quality parquet fl oor certifi cated by FIBA, gym, sauna, Jacuzzi, as well as outdoor fi elds for basketball, volleyball,
handball, mini football and tennis, two grass fi elds for football, outdoor swimming pool with snack bar, cafe at shooting range, boxes for hunting dogs and smallcaliber shooting range. This year, the congress center was opened with a hall with 250 seats, complete
audio-visual equipment, a restaurant and related contents. Construction of fun and aqua park with an open-air restaurant, with the specifi c offer, started and will be completed in 2007. Further plan of activities includes projects for preparation and construction of golf and tennis courts.

Comprehensive offer of sports tourism gave good results in 2006 and 2007. This sports complex, with “President“ hotel in its center, hosted basketball teams that compete in the Adriatia League, Uleb Cup and Euro League. It was also the host to the national football team of BIH, and it became the regular base of Football Association of Serbia for the preparation of the national team of Serbia for EURO 2008. Also, the contract has been signed with the Volleyball Association of Serbia, while the national water polo team of Hungary always stay in Hotel President when in Belgrade. Regular guests are also top sports shooters who use all benefi ts of the best skeet shooting range in the world.

With the decision that the Davis Cup match between the national teams of Serbia and Georgia be organized in the sports hall of this complex, the Tennis Association of Serbia showed that it also has confi dence in BG Sports Center Kovilovo.

Sveobuhvatna ponuda za sportski turizam je i u prošloj i ovoj godini donela dobre rezultate, te je ovaj centar, sa hotelom „President“ u središtu, primio košarkaške ekipe koje učestvuju u Jadranskoj ligi, Uleb kupu i Evro ligi, bio domaćin fudbalske A selekcije BIH, postao stalna baza Fudbalskog saveza Srbije za pripreme reprezentacije Srbije za EURO 2008, potpisan je i ugovor sa Odbojkaškim savezom Srbije, a Vaterpolo reprezentacija Mađarske je odredila Hotel President za svoj boravak kad god je u Beogradu. Stalni gosti su i vrhunski strelci koji koriste sve prednosti naboljih streljačkih terena za leteće mete na svetu. Poverenje BG Sportskom centru Kovilovo je ukazao Teniski savez Srbije, odlukom da se Davis Cup meč, između reprezentacija Srbije i Gruzije
organizuje u sportskoj hali ovog centra.

Hotel “President“
Since “Hotel President” is the unique elite hotel on the left bank of the Danube, business partners of all larger enterprises and companies settled in this part of the city are staying in this hotel and use all services offered by this complex.

Hotel President has 17 rooms and 10 suites on two fl oors, all of which are furnished with luxurious furniture, All contents are adapted to meet standards of the top-quality world hotel-keeping business (air-condition system, phones in all rooms, Internet connection, ca ble TV, mini bar, safe). Every room has modern bathroom and balcony. Outdoor swimming pool with snack bar is also a part of the hotel. Room service is available 24 hours a day, and the guests can also use the services of dry cleaning and laundry washing.

Conditions for hunting tourism are also great, because there are numerous hunting grounds within the circle of 20 – 30 km around the Sports Center, and the Center itself is included in the activities of the Hunting Association of Serbia. The hunters also have compact shooting range and boxes for hunting dogs at their disposal.

The organizers and the jury of the 28th International Fair of Tourism “IFT 2006“ recognized all advantages of “BG Sports Center Kovilovo” and “Hotel President” in the complete tourist offer of Belgrade and Serbia.

“Hotel President” has been rewarded with the special award of the Belgrade Fair for promotion and contribution to improvement of the tourist offer. This Sports Center received prestigious award “Golden Heart of Tourism” for year 2006 in category “Champion of Sports Tourism“. “BG Sports Center Kovilovo” and “Hotel President” obtained special place on the tourist map and became inevitable part of the offer
of city of Belgrade and Serbia.
