New construction venture of Emir Kusturica in Trebinje

(A view over the Crkvina hill) Famous director, Emir Kusturica, starts new construction venture where he is planning to turn Crkvina, the most famous religious and tourist destination of Trebinje, into new Sveta gora.

According to Kusturica, the idea is refers to external side of the hill, which, from all sides, dominates over Trebinje.

- We want Crkvena to put belts of fragments of Sveta gora architecture, to has Sveta gora façade and Trebinje to become unique town in the world – Kusturica explains.

He will, with the experience of constructor of Andricgrad and Drvengrad, decide on development of the remaining part of the Crkvina complex together with famous architects and spirituals such as bishop Grigorije and prior Sava who will be the commission members of the competition released for a solution of the entire Crkvina complex in the sense of spiritual, cultural, catering and tourist purpose.

The competition recommends slenderness of Mediterranean and Herzegovina architecture with modern architecture expression and clearly defined relation towards traditional construction of the region and usage of traditional materials such as stone and wood is specifically expected.
