Credits for highway and new bridge near Beška - €72m
The Government of Republic of Serbia made the decision about signing of the contract on several credit lines, among which is the credit approved by European Bank for Rehabilitation and Development worth €72m. Of that amount, €18m will be spent on construction of the second lane of highway Belgrade-Novi Sad, whereas €53m will be invested in construction of new bridge across the Danube near Beška.
Minister of Capital Investments, Velimir Ilić, pointed out that the expert commission had been formed and its task would be to estimate the condition of the existing bridge near Beška. He showed that the crack on one pillar stands there for two years and that it haven't "expanded by one inch" since that time. According to Ilić's words, the plan is that the new bridge be constructed first, and then the existing one rehabilitated. Of course, its condition will be daily checked and, in case the crack gets bigger, it will be blocked right away.
