China Development Bank interested in corridors 10 and 11
Representatives of the Chinese delegation underlined at a meeting with Serbian Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Milutin Mrkonjic that they were open for negotiations and talks, but noted that it would be difficult to approve more loans as favorable as the one granted for the construction of the Zemun-Borca Bridge.
That bridge is being built in association with China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) and major share of funds is provided by China's Exim Bank.
Mrkonjic noted at that meeting that about EUR 4.5 billion were required for the modernization and reconstruction of the railway infrastructure on Corridor 10 and added that the railway route of Corridor 10 could be completed in about seven years.
Mrkonjic also underlined that the construction of the entire highway route from Belgrade to the Montenegrin seaside cost about EUR 5 billion and that it would take about seven years to complete the works.
He also stressed that the Chinese companies should be engaged to a greater extent in the infrastructure projects in Serbia because China was a major economic force and the owner of the world's longest cross-sea bridge, 42 km long.
