First Investor to Come to Industrial Chemical Park Prahovo by End-Year

The Chamber of Commerce of Serbia has announced that the first investor in the Industrial Chemical Park Prahovo (IHP Prahovo) will be known by the end of the year. This was announced by Vladimir Todorovic, the vice-president of the business system for strategic corporate operations at Elixir Group.

The park will incite a sustainable development of small and medium enterprises in east Serbia and have a manifold positive effect not just on the Timocka Krajina region, but also the economy of the state level, especially the chemical industry. Around 30 investors are expected, which will directly employ up to 2,000 workers.

– We are currently negotiating and developing the details of cooperation with seven investors. Just as many have started a process during which we are specifying the needs of the client and estimating its attractiveness to our Industrial Chemical Park. We are intensively working on preparing the full documentation, processes and services in order to facilitate the arrival of companies, while complying with the high standards of environmental protection and workplace health and safety – Todorovic says.

The majority of the raw materials for the chemical industry would come from Serbia (sulfuric, phosphoric and hydrochloric acid, calcium and magnesium carbonate, magnesium oxide…), which would incite the development of mining and the overall economy of Serbia. The realization of the later phases will lead to a multiplication of the economic effects, Todorovic emphasizes.

Green hydrogen from Prahovo

Elixir plans to build a facility for the production of hydrogen, Stanko Popovic, owner of Elixir Group, said at a session of the CCIS assembly. Green hydrogen also has a key role in achieving one of the goals of sustainable development – neutralizing CO2 by 2050. It can also replace fossil fuels, which are the main source of the harmful carbon-dioxide emissions.
