(Zrenjanin)

Infrastructural equipping of industrial zone "Southeastern-Ecka" in Zrenjanin was completed, and future premises of the factory’s plants should be opened on 15th of July, as it was announced by the mayor of Zrenjanin, Mile Mihailov.

- Works on the furnishing of this site were funded by the European Union means in the amount of 4 million EUR, while the city of Zrenjanin invested about 2 million EUR. The zone covers an area of 72 hectares, of which half is designated for the construction of buildings - said Mihailov.

The original plan was to have the works completed in 18 months and that period expired in early April. Representative of the contractor on building of infrastructure, the company "Alpine" Zoran Lazarevic said at that time that the deadline for completion of the works, in consultation with investors and the city, had been extended for another three months due to small changes in the project. Mihailov said that the new deadline was 15th of July and that the equipping was done.

- We have published the announcement of land for sale in the industrial zone and we already have several investors who are waiting to sign the contract - said the mayor, noting that, in accordance with the new Law on planning and construction, which entered into force on September 2009, rhe land was to be sold to investors, and not given on lease for 99 years, as it was previously the case.

Last week, the first such agreement was signed in Zrenjanin with the Italian company for production of plastic films and packaging, "Omniapack“, which became became the owner of 27,000 square meters in the industrial zone Bagljas for 19,759,200 dinars.

However, during an earlier tour of works in the zone "Southeast – Ecka“, city officials have disclosed that agreements with eight investors had been signed so far and they will operate in this location, at the end of the road between Belgrade and Zrenjanin. The companies in matter are the "Alpine", "OM Engineering", "Eurowind", "MG Remedy", "ITS Balkan", "Altis Chemicals," "Cirkom" and Company "Jovanović". Local Government reminded that this was a feasible extension of the factory zone, of even 1,000 hectares, which at this point, seems to be the zone with the most opportunities for economic investment in Serbia.
