Nylon Stockings from Odzaci Available in Stores Throughout Europe

One of the recognizable Serbian exporting products are the nylon stockings produced at the Basic Invest facility in Odzaci. The company says that, in less than a year of operations, they've managed to justify the expectations of their foreign clients thanks to their quality product.

They point out that the quantities are not high, but that they've managed to achieve the goal of gaining a good market position abroad.

They are also recognizable for employing women over 50, who find it difficult to get employed.

The nylon stockings made at this facility are available throughout Europe. Each month, they produce and export around 200,000 pairs. They say that quality raw materials are important. The goods produced are meant for the foreign market exclusively.

– It's difficult to survive in the foreign market. You need to know the market and the technology, but also come out with a product that suits the market, otherwise it's impossible to survive – says Boris Basic, the director and a co-owner of the company.

Dragan Stamenkovic, another co-owner, says that, at the moment, the necessary raw materials are not produced in Serbia and that they are instead imported from Italy:

– That's the best raw material, and to us the quality of the finished product is important. We are the 100% importer of the raw material and the 100% exporter of the finished goods.

The stocking plant is also recognizable for the fact that 70% of the workforce consists of women from the category considered difficult to employ. The employers who hire women over 50 can get subsidies, says the National Employment Service.
