Aptiv will begin the construction of factory in Zajecar in November at the latest, it was stated after the meeting of the representatives of the Irish company with the city leaders.

As the city website says, it has been decided that this should be a greenfield investment from the start and that instead of the initially proposed 20,000 m2, the total area of the production facilities would be 30,000 m2.

The beginning of the first phase of production (out of the three planned) is expected at the end of March next year, whereas the training of the hired workforce would begin in factory in Novi Sad this year.(The training was previously scheduled in a factory in Romania but due to the pandemic the decision has since changed) The full production capacity (all three production phases) and hiring all of 2,100 workers is expected to be complete by October 2021.

After Leskovac and Novi Sad, Aptiv, which provides electrical and electronic vehicle equipment, will thereby open another production facility in Serbia and close to EUR 20 million will be invested in the construction of this facility, according to the earlier information .
