License plates will no longer have to be changed after nine years of being issued.

In line with the amendments to the Regulation on registration of motor and towed vehicles, signed by Serbian Internal Affairs Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic, license plates will not need to be changed after said deadline, as was the case before.

License plates will have to be changed only if they become unusable due to being worn out or damaged, as well as in cases when the vehicle is registered in another registration area and when they are lost, stolen or destroyed.

Beginning with January 1, permanent driving licenses are also being issued, and the owners of vehicles to whom driving licenses with expiration dates were issued before January 1, 2020, can exchange them for new, permanent ones after the expiration.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs recommends vehicle owners to change the driving permits after the expiration so that they can use them without obstacle abroad.
