At its most recent session, the Government of Serbia adopted the decision on the preparation of the spatial plan for the special purpose area for the construction of the Thermal Power Plant Kolubara B.

The spatial plan roughly encompasses parts of the territory of the city of Belgrade, the urban municipalities of Obrenovac and Lazarevac and the municipalities of Ub and Lajkovac, and the exact area covered by the spatial plan will be defined by the Draft Spatial Plan.

The deadline for the preparation of the Draft Spatial Plan is 12 months from the decision’s coming into effect, and the funds for the preparation will be provided by the PE Elektroprivreda Srbije, whereas the carrier of the preparation of the plan is the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure.

The Draft Spatial Plan will be put up for public review for 30 days in the local self-governments covered by the plan. The government’s decision also entails the preparation of a strategic assessment of the environmental impact of the Spatial Plan. The decision comes into effect on August 9, 2019.
