Investors are coming back to Sremska Mitrovica, and it seems that the headache that Mayor Branislav Nedimović suffered from during all these months of the crisis, when the existing industrial units were dismissing workers, is slowly becoming the past since the same industrial units have recently hired over 400 new workers, and three new investors should soon start construction of units in the industrial zone and on private land, but in the zone where construction is allowed.

- Soon after we equipped industrial zones and started expansion, the crisis hit and everybody was "on hold", while nobody was interested in renting building land any more. At this moment, we have five potential local and foreign investors, as well as demand for workers, so that I already feel much better – Branislav Nedimović explains.

Manufacturer of automobile seats "Boxmark", which operates in the hall of former FUDIN, has already increased the number of workers from 50 to 163, and it seeks even more people to hire. However, there are neither qualified nor trained sewers in the labor market, so that "Boxmark" will hire women who "know how to sew, while they will learn all the rest in the factory".

Slovenian investor "Eurocat", which bought the facilities of former "Sirmodeks", had only 30 workers in the sector for production of heaters for automobile seats for a long time. But, since the things are moving in a positive direction, 80 people are now working in that sector.

American corporation ITON, which took over Austrian company "Moeller" at the end of the last year, had over 1,300 employees and plenty of job, but the needs for electric equipment suddenly disappeared, so that ITON was forced to cut the number of workers to 750. Thanks to recent changes, this company has already hired about 300 people, and many dismissed people have been returned to the factory hall.

- Sremska Mitrovica-based company "Philip Co" will soon start construction of new hall for production of mattrasses, for the needs of which 50 workers will be hired, while another local company is asking us for the location for construction of furniture production unit and showroom, and we are very close to reach the agreement. That company will employ about 80 people, but I still can not reveal the name of the company - Nedimović points out.

Slovenian K.I.G.O. has already rented the land in Sremska Mitrovica for construction of a logistic center for building machines for southeast Europe with 100 employees, but the works have not commenced yet, although it has informed the municipality that it is not going to give up that project.

TNHK Group has got the building permit for shopping mall "Novi Sirmium" in zone "Sever", which should lead to creation of about 400 jobs, but the works have not started yet. Nedimović believes that TNHK will not give up this project, but he also thinks that the company is trying to find the way to finance the project in this critical time.
