The foundation stone for the construction of the Chinese factory Shandong Linglong, which will produce 13 million tires a year according to the announcements, was laid down on March 30 in Zrenjanin in the presence of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic. According to the announcement, the factory will employ 1,200 workers, and EUR 800 million will be invested in it.

At the ceremony, Vucic said that the entire Serbia would benefit from Shandong Linglong. He added that the company would not have arrived to Zrenjanin had Serbia not been supported by the Chinese state and President Xi Jinping.

He said that Serbia had not been the first choice of Shandong Linglong, but that it had successfully showed that it was the right place anyway. Vucic said that the arrival of Shandong Linglong to Serbia meant more roads and the construction of high-speed traffic routes in the country.

– We will connect middle Banat with the center of South Backa. Zrenjanin will be on every road and rail map. This will facilitate the bringing of investors to this city – Vucic said.

He asked the factory’s president, Wang Feng, to put in a good word for Serbia with the representatives of Volkswagen, for which Shandong Linglong produces tires.

Shandong Linglong will be built on 500,000 square meters and be the biggest tire factory in this part of Europe.

First Linglong outlet opens

The first tire store of China’s Linglong opened in Mileticeva Street in Zrenjanin. At the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the store was opened by the company’s president, Wang Feng, the mayor of Zrenjanin, Cedomir Janjic, and the authorized distributor for Serbia, Djordje Petrovic.

As said, at this outlet, people of Zrenjanin will be introduced to the Chinese company’s products, and Linglong products made in Zrenjanin are expected to become available in the markets of Serbia and Western Serbia in 2021.
