Siemens has built a plant for aluminum passenger train car bodies in Industrial Zone Sobovica near Kragujevac, and the first products are meant for the Austrian rail system, Novosti writes in today’s issue, as reported by Tanjug.

As said, the factory will also start producing tram components soon.

The daily writes that no official data on the factory were available, but that they have learned that the German giant will soon employ around 2,000 workers in the newly built facilities, in addition to the 500 workers hired through the acquisition of the factory from Milanovic Inzenjering.

Siemens has so far built around 40,000 m2 of facilities, and the plan is for there to be around 60,000 m2, Novosti reports.

Another substation to be built

Another substation of 110 kW is being built for the purpose of supplying the facility with power. It will solve the problem of power supply in the villages between Kragujevac, Raca and Topola.

The job is worth around EUR 10 million, and the City Administration of Kragujevac has invested RSD 10 million in order to expand the main road from the center of Sumadija to Sobovica.
