The treatment of waste waters and the construction of facilities for that purpose are among the main tasks for Serbia when it comes to Chapter 27, which pertains to environmental protection, in the negotiations with the EU. In order to adapt to the requirements, the country needs to build more than 300 such facilities, and the estimates say that all this will cost more than EUR 5 billion.

While this will be a great financial cost for the state, it is also an opportunity to earn for those who produce treatment devices.

In order to meet the market demand for waste water treatment devices, the Belgrade-based company CWG Balkan is planning to expand its operations.

As Ivan Stevanovic, the company's director, says for eKapija, the plan is to expand the focus from drinking and industrial waters to include this segment as well.

The company's main activity is the production and the sale of high quality devices, equipment and materials used in water treatment.

– Our plan is to expand to the segment of waste waters, in which we are not active at the moment. We plan to offer such devices in the market next year – Stevanovic explains for eKapija.

CWG Balkan now offers devices for filtering and softening technical and drinking water, as well as chemicals and filtration materials. Separate components and a repair service are also available to customers.

– We produce equipment for industrial filtering of water. These are primarily water cleaners, demineralizers, filters for removing metals, chlorine, chemical conditioning... Our main clients are companies from the food industry, mostly from Vojvodina, from the automotive industry, the thermal energy sector... – our interviewee explains.

The company has been operating since 2005 and has clients in the countries of the region, in addition to Serbia. According to Stevanovic, expansion to other foreign markets is not planned for now. As he says, this would require an expansion of the team, which now consists of 17 permanent workers.

– In the long term, we certainly plan to penetrate new markets. In order to enter those markets, we need new workers, and in order for our range of products to widen, we need to widen our production capacities as well – Stevanovic adds.

New employments, however, are not planned for this year, because, according to our interviewee, a job contest has ended recently.

Water treatment devices at next Technics Fair in Belgrade

CWG Balkan presented its products at the recently held International Technics Fair in Belgrade. According to Stevanovic, their participation in this event was very good.

– The fair itself was not quite as good as in the past years, in terms of visit and the number of participants. During the first two days, the visit was very low, and then it improved considerably in the next three days – our interviewee explains.

He adds that no concrete jobs were contracted at this year's fair, but says that many good new contacts were established and that there were many talks about potential cooperation and new agreements. Time will show which of these will be realized, he says.

The company has clients in various sectors, such as medicine, industry, energy, water supply, hotel business, hospitality and many other fields. The new waste water treatment devices are meant to expand this list.

According to our interviewee, the devices will be presented at the company's stand at next year's Technics Fair.
