Foreign trade of Sumadija and Pomoravlje at EUR 2.9 billion – Biggest surplus in trade with Italy in 11 months of 2017

In the period up till the end of November 2017, the total foreign trade of the Sumadija and Pomoravlje Districts amounted to EUR 2.9 billion. According to the press release by the Regional Chamber of Commerce in Kragujevac, the exports amounted to EUR 1.6 billion, whereas the imports equaled EUR 1.3 billion.

The director of the Regional Chamber of Commerce in Kragujevac, Predrag Lucic, said that the economy of the Sumadija and Pomoravlje Districts realized the biggest foreign trade surplus of all regions in Serbia.

The biggest growth in exports was realized in the field of machines and machine components (38.4%), rail vehicle components (35.5%), furniture and seat parts (29%) and plastic-based products (17.5%).

The main exporting products are road vehicles, components and equipment, sets of conductors and cables, plastic-based products (hoses, pipes, adhesive tapes), furniture and seat components, machines, machine components, molds and iron and steel products.

The export of paper and cardboard more than doubled, whereas the export of secondary raw materials increased nearly two times. The export of control and measurement devices increased by close to 50%, the export of car covers grew by over 33%, and the export of drinks increased by close to 27%.


The export of dairy products, grains and fruit- and vegetable-based products also grew.

In the first 11 months of 2017, the Sumadija and Pomoravlje Districts exported products to 85 countries of the world.

The majority of exports (49.8%) went to Italy, followed by Germany, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Romania, Montenegro, Slovenia, Poland and Russia.

Trade with Italy also accounts for the majority of imports (33.3%), followed by Poland, Germany, Romania, South Korea, Turkey and China.

The biggest surplus was realized in the trade with Italy, Germany, B&H, Montenegro, Russia and the United States of America.
