Komunajzer, a small brewery from Novo Mesto, Slovenia, whose name translates as “an old communist” has produced a small series of pale ale Tito and bitter wheat beer Jovanka, initiating a discussion in Slovenia about Tito's rule and whether it is appropriate to celebrate the former Yugoslavian president this way, writes Croatian agency Hina.

The brewery posted a photo of the two beers in a Lidl store on its Facebook profile and wrote that they were selling well.

As part of the recently celebrated Beer Day, these two beers were included in the craft presentation, encompassing around 50 small series offered by micro-breweries in Slovenia.

Commenting on the accusations that they were looking to make Yugo-nostalgics happy, Lidl said that they had not wanted to stir political emotions in consumers and that they wanted politics out of their stores, where people both on the left and on the right are welcome.
