Folkk starts Kickstarter campaign for support to craftsmen all over Serbia

On Monday, June 12, 2017, Folkk company, the first brand of Belgrade-based Nova Iskra, Kickstarter campaign with which it is planning to collect USD 20,000 to empower and support a larger number of small producers and artisans across Serbia, through expansion of Folkk range of products.

Folkk is Belgrade-based social enterprise which connects masters of crafts with young design forces in the Balkans, in order to jointly create highest quality products. The firm wants to keep traditional and centuries-old cared craftsmanship and skill of craftsmen from different regions of the Balkans, as well as to provide global visibility through an online platform to its 100% local products. Launched in 2016, Folkk brand has emerged as one of the first social enterprises of this type in the region.

All who wish to support Folkk can do so on the Kickstarter internet platform which allows collection of donations for the initiative of people from all over the world. As stated from Nova Iskra, all funds collected in the campaign will be used for providing a stable income to artisans, inclusion of more artisans in production and for geographic expansion in the Balkan region.

Folkk produces high quality, designed objects for everyday use in a home - carpets, pillows, multifunctional wooden plates and boards for food serving. Unique approach is reflected in connecting long carpenter's tradition and skills of hand weaving in Serbia with some of the most prominent designers in the region.

Folkk is committed to sustainable production processes, use of 100% local materials, as well as to ensuring fair compensation to everyone involved in products creation, it was added in the statement.

- We want to offer unique high-quality products which people really want in their homes and which will also bring them a good feeling because of its social dimension - Marko Radenkovic, one of the founders of the brand explains.

In exchange for direct support on Kickstarter, Folkk offers a selection of handmade, unique products in limited series: luxurious hand-woven carpets made of 100% natural wool, pillows stuffed with natural wool, double-sided multi-functional wooden plates and tripartite board for serving food made from steamed walnut.

Kickstarter campaign will last until July 12.
