The delegation of the City of Vrsac presented the Feasibility Study of the construction of a logistics center and an intermodal terminal in this city on Friday, December 23, 2016, and the gathering was attended by numerous investors and representatives of embassies.

As reported by eVrsac, immediately following the presentation, the commercial attache of the Embassy of China in Belgrade, Zhao Xijing, and representative of Beijing Forever Technology CO. LTD, Mingliang Du, expressed great interest in the project.

The City of Vrsac and the Karas-Severin district carried out the project “Implementation of modern transport technologies in logistics connections of Banat” within the IPA program of cross-border cooperation between Romania and Serbia in the 2013-2015. The project included the preparation of the Feasibility Study for the construction of a logistics center and an intermodal terminal at the Railway Station, next to the industrial zone and the Technology Park on the Belgrade Road, as well at the Danube-Tisa-Danube canal location at Vlajkovac.

The introduction of intermodal transport will enable a quicker, more quality and more economic shipment of products and goods to end consumers in Serbia or abroad. The center of the logistics center will contain the intermodal terminal, as a meeting point for road, water and railway transport.

The project raises the level of competitiveness of both Vrsac and the South Banat district on the whole, as well as the entire region, regarding the improvement of the existing economy and attracting new investors, it was stated.

The development of the intermodal terminal will be a key advantage of the Banat region compared to others, which will lead to new investments, jobs and an improved quality of life in the region. Furthermore, an intermodal terminal has a positive environmental impact and its development will reduce the amount of road transport pollution and increase the use of other modes of transport.
