Unemployment rate in Serbia in Q4 2015 at 17.9%

The unemployment rate in Serbia in the fourth quarter of 2015 amounted to 17.9%, the Republic Statistical Office announced today.

The unemployment rate for men was 17.4%, while that rate for women was somewhat higher - 18.4%.

According to a manpower survey, the unemployment rate was at 19.3% in the Belgrade Region, 16% in the Vojvodina Region, 17.6% in the region of Sumadija and Western Serbia, and at 18.8% in the region of South and East Serbia.

The employment rate, which represents the share of those employed in the overall population older than 15, was at 42.4% in Q4 2015.

This rate for men and women stood at 50% and 35.2%, respectively.

The highest employment rate was registered in the region of Sumadija and Western Serbia - 43.8%, which was followed by the Vojvodina Region with 42.8%, the Belgrade Region with 41.9%, and the region of South and East Serbia with 40.4%.

Aforementioned manpower survey was conducted among about 13,000 households in Serbia.
